The unsecured BusinessLine and asset-secured Prime Line serve very different borrower sizes.
Wells Fargo at a glance
Wells Fargo publishes an unsecured BusinessLine from $10,000 to $150,000 and a secured Prime Line from $100,000 to $3 million. The two products should be separated by revenue, collateral and renewal requirements. The advertised maximum is not a promise of approval. A final offer can be smaller and can use a different payment structure after the provider reviews revenue, credit, industry, state and recent bank activity.

What the financing actually looks like
National bank offering direct revolving business credit and SBA financing.
BusinessLine advertises rates as low as prime plus 1.75%; Prime Line advertises prime plus 0.50%. Final margins and fees depend on underwriting and facility size.
Both products revolve. The smaller BusinessLine is unsecured, while Prime Line uses one- or three-year credit periods depending on size and can renew.
Prime Line is secured by business assets. BusinessLine is described as unsecured, but guarantees and bank account remedies remain contract questions.
BusinessLine has an online path for selected amounts. Prime Line uses a phone and banker process for businesses with $2 million to $25 million revenue.
The bank asks for legal entity, ownership, revenue and guarantor information. Stronger documentation and collateral support the larger Prime Line.
The small and large lines serve different companies
BusinessLine runs from $10,000 to $150,000. Prime Line runs from $100,000 to $3 million and targets businesses with $2 million to $25 million annual revenue. A $125,000 request could sit inside both published ranges, so collateral, reporting and pricing should decide the route rather than amount alone.
Annual fees belong in the utilization math
BusinessLine waives its annual fee for the first year, then charges a tiered fee. Prime Line charges 0.25% of the commitment. Divide that fee by the average amount actually drawn, not the maximum. A lightly used emergency line can have a higher effective carrying cost than the headline rate suggests.
Prime movement changes the payment without a new agreement
Both advertised floors are tied to prime. When the benchmark changes, interest expense can move before revenue does. Model at least a two-point rate increase and ask how quickly the bank reprices. A line that only works at today's floor has too little cash-flow room.
Who should keep it on the shortlist?
A company that needs repeat working capital and can maintain a bank reporting and renewal relationship.
A one-time long-life asset purchase that deserves a fixed term, or a business that cannot tolerate a variable prime-based payment. That second group should compare a bank, credit union or government-backed route before paying for a shorter online process.
Our view
Wells Fargo gives borrowers two distinct revolving benchmarks. The smaller unsecured line and the larger asset-secured line should never be collapsed into one rate or qualification range. No published threshold can predict an individual approval, and no company maximum should set the size of the request.
How to read the offer
Ask for the cash delivered after withheld fees, total dollars repaid, number of payments and payment frequency. Then read the personal guarantee, UCC filing, collateral, default and early-payment sections. If the offer uses a factor, calculate an estimated annualized cost for comparison without pretending that estimate changes the contract into a loan.
Model the payment against the weakest recent revenue month. Leave payroll, sales tax, suppliers and existing debt in the bank forecast. A fast approval can still be the wrong product when automatic withdrawals create another gap before the financed project returns cash.
